Boston Evens ALCS With 6-5 Acquire!
While not officially categorized being a ‘must win’ game for your Boston Red Sox, Game 2 was about as close as you can get.

After dropping their ALCS house opener and Justin Verlander emerging for your Detroit Tigers in Game 3, beating Detroit starter Max Scherzer was not about to be easy, but in order to tie this series and head over to Motown for what would essentially turn into a best-of-5, it had to be practiced.

Things started off well with regard to both clubs, though Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz did run into a little bit of trouble come the second inning whenever he allowed multiple base runners to achieve. And although he definitely avoided major damage by dancing round the trouble, Detroit was able to take a one-0 lead thanks to an Alex Avila RBI single that plated Victor Martinez.

That lead would hold until the top of 6, which was when your flood gates opened on Buchholz.

A new towering fly ball from Miguel Cabrera simply just cleared the Green Monster, giving Detroit a 2-0 direct which they would extend a few batters later thanks to consecutive increases from Prince Fielder and Victor Martinez. The particular onslaught wasn’t complete though because Alex Avila, who already had the very first RBI of the night hit a two-run home cost right field, capping the bothersome attack which gave the Tigers some sort of 5-0 lead.

The Red Sox did answer back the subsequent half-inning thanks to a Dustin Pedroia home run, though, it put just a dent into the Tigers’ now 5-1 lead, much of that thanks to the pitching of this aforementioned Scherzer who was simply downright filthy, striking out 13 in 7 innings.

Scherzer remaining qualified for a win, but an eighth inning rally from this Red Sox spoiled that being a two out, grand slam from David Ortiz down Tigers closer Joaquin Benoit tied the sport at 5-5. Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter raced as soon as the screaming travel from Ortiz, flipping above the short outfield wall in this Red Sox’s bullpen because ball cleared his glove by means of inches. Torii, despite looking as if he had blood coming from the back of his head, would stay in this game.

The score would remain knotted prior to the bottom of the ninth when Jonny Gomes lead over inning with a well located ground ball to shortstop, that Tigers infielder Jose Iglesias threw wide of 1st base. That allowed Gomes to move forward to second where he minutes later advanced to third over a wild pitch. Just two pitches in the future, Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia smacked a game-winning RBI single up the middle, completing the 6-run comeback.

With a journey day Monday, the Tigers will attempt to regroup while this Red Sox will try to help ride their momentum into game 3 at the Comerica Park, The following Tuesday evening.
